All About Our Unique Fabrication Service

 Last Site Update  9-15

Tides-Afab currently provides on-call, industrial odd-jobs and fabrication services for those individuals or small manufacturers who need only occasional repair, modification or other project work to keep their facility running or provide refinement or expansion of their processes.  We work on process and process support equipment as well as associated material handling systems.  Our fabrication shop works in wood, metals, plastics and composite constructions.  I've lately had several calls to replicate broken parts on old, obsolete machines which are no longer supported by their builders.   Our experiences extend into the marine and automotive trades as well.

When you're not sure who to call,  that's us!

For example;  Last month we changed a machine over from 480v-3ph to 240v-1ph for a small local shop.   Before that it was torch work to salvage steel wire spools for a special process.  This week I repaired ceramic chucks for semiconductor wafer grinding machines.  Next week I'm building a batch of coolant nozzles, repairing some polyethelyne Kayaks, Building the third glider cart, and rebuilding a semiconductor wire saw,  Completing kitboats, producing custom architectural hardware for bars and restraunts, refinishing a fiberglass sailboat w/trailer &&&&&&-

The list grows daily (project gallery coming soon)

A QUICK, LITTLE HISTORY

Back in the early 90s I was moonlighting as a technical editor for machine documentation from Europe which needed "Americanising" for contract qualification.  As this was done on the front porch of my home near the beach,  TIDES, came to stand for Technical / Industrial Documentation & Educational Services.

As that job passed I later got into some other types of industrial odd-jobs including prototype FABrication of machine pneumatic sub-systems. AFAB was then added to our name, reflecting the diversity of our capabilities and activities.

Now, in 2006, we have come out of the cellar and relocated to a nice, warm and dry 24 x 38 workshop, affectionately known as "AREA 54"  ( or Studio 51 ?),  where the spirit of JUNK YARD WARS and the blessed curse of a New England Yankee heritage is alive and well.  We thrive on creative problem solving, often with materials at hand; based on 40+ years of industrial / manufacturing experience.  Now with foreign competition limiting my regular employment, TIDES-AFAB, LLC  is now open for business.
