"From The Box To The Bay"    This service will be marketed through the manufacturers of the kits as well as other public venues.  Area 54 has the immediate capacity to work on as many as 4 projects simultaniously with expansion plans in place as the business requires.  Pricing is simply based on material cost and labor at very reasonable "cottage craft industry" rates.  Kit assembly is based on manufacturers estimated "time to build", with custom features additional.  Our work is exclusively hand craft.

For more information please call Peter 203-745-3184 (East Haven, CT ) or Ron at 860-460-4053 ( Mystic, CT)

the  BOAT GOAT

  ( picture coming soon )

Your own little, " BEAST of BURDEN " for your light craft

Check out the Glider Cart story on page 6.  This design has been in proven use for several years now. With only minor design changes to the supporting frame, this cart can also haul your small craft or kayak, back up that hill to your house at the end of the day.  Precise designs vary slightly as we incorperate surplus and recycled materials whenever possible, but the basic drive train is made of new OEM components.  Any warranties presented, are limited exclusively, to those of the OEM component supplier

BOATS FOR SALE

For the up coming boat shows we are producing a short run of classic rowing dorys and paddlecraft, gleaned from the pages of Popular, Science, Mechanix Illustrated and other boat plan  periodicals of the 40s and 50s. The materials and finishing have been updated to modern "stich and glue" techniques with full outer epoxy / glassing.

Our Custom Paddle craft are 11'7" long and 32" beam and easily carry up to 200lbs.  Used with a double or single paddle.  Option include custom inlaid hardwood decks.  This is where art meets craft, and in exercising this creativity, these boats will be unique and no two of these boats will be finished the same

Our version is being finished with detailed mahogany sheer rails, in a 3 seat configuration with dark green hull and interior of tan.(Eddie Bauer??)

Anticipated selling price will be $2400.  As I stiched up the 4 parts to the hull and weighted it into shape, I absolutely fell in love with the lines of this boat.  One visitor at the boat show even called it "sexy." I don't think they get out much!

If you have a set of favorite plans, we can layout and cut a kit for you to finish, or deliver bare hulls for your finish

FOR SALE:   FORCE 5. w/Trailer.  Currently being cleaned up for presentation.  A real blast for the experienced race sailor.  This boat is my favorite for that reason.  It's wicked hot and zippy but my wife hates it (she's a wuss!)  priced around $950 ready to rock.
